Little Tarheel Update

The Little Tarheel works fine from 10 to 20m. I ve managed to do QSOs at a maximum distance of 4000km (Canary islands)at 12m . So lets hope it will keep up until the dipole is installed.

Little Tarheel ground installation

As I can't wait for a dipole installation (not ready yet for it) I ve decided to use my little tarheel that was on my car so I can use the HF bands with my YAESU 857D.
The task was easy but had some tricky parts. Like the connection of the remote control. For the connection of the tarheel a RG213 cable was used and for the remote control a UTP cable (for the 12V power). An extra ground was attached from the connector to the wall as these antennas need a really good grounding. So far it performs quite well on most occassions so it will be a small solution until the dipole is installed.

My first installation. Diamond X 520 2m/70cm Antenna !

I have finally found the time to install properly a V/U antenna for my local communications. The task was planned in advance and with the help of my friend Yiannis A. we ve managed to install it within an hour. The antenna is mounted on a 2'' 6 meter galvanized pole. As the pole was heavy and tall we had to install it really good. (as the pics indicate).
I am very happy with the team work the fun and the final result we had. The antenna is connected with my YAESY 857D and currently there is no SWR.Some more cables were left for future installations.
Thanks SV9DJO and SV5BYR for the tips and instructions.

Little Tarheel II installation on my New Grand Vitara

After a long time I have decided to install this antenna on my car. At first there was a problem tuning the antenna but after searching we found out the it needs a really good grounding. It also tunes very precise while pressing the tuning button. I have to say that I am very satisfied with the performance of this antenna. It is connected  with a YAESU 857D and so far I have managed to do QSOs across Europe and Middle East easy from Rhodes island in Greece mainly at 20m. It works well at all bands it can cover (6-80m).
Of course A BIG THANKS to SV5BYR for his valuable knowledge and the help on the installation.
